For myself, I’m an external thinker so I talk through my thoughts to validate and organize.

How do you organize your thoughts?
 
Generally by walking.
That is the way I get enough open space
in my head for ideas to get next to each other.

Then I write them down in the notebook that
I carry in my pocket.
 
I write out these word pictures that are in my head...
Then I condense them, and then go from most important to least important.

I often get confused/sidetracked and start all over, because something comes up that was not in the thought process. Sometimes I sit and wonder about all the weird stuff my head gets my body into... So I try and change the reasoning to fit the solution. I guess its sort of like reverse engineering my thoughts?
 
Try to latch onto one thought amongst thousands that are racing through my head at times. There's no organization, only chaos ;)

i am a structured process thinker, step by step, logical
if i understand the process and logic, i don't feel as much strain on my memory
 
Rarely write them down.
I take time when I wake up to think about what I need to do and visualise them like a picture in my head.
If something unexpected comes up then I get confuzzled and take a break to re-organize.
 
I make journaling part of my morning routine, and also write down things in the journal throughout the day. Things don't get real until I write them down. Sometimes I use the journal to talk my way through something that is hard to focus on.

Physically, the current journal is Google Keep notes tagged with "diary". I've used paper notebooks too.

I was a real mess before I started doing this. I'm not sure I really organize my thoughts much but I do make some sense of them.
