How much would it cost to view Doctor Who episodes from start to finish?

I remember an uncle of mine really liked Doctor Who. He would watch it on Public Television in the early 1990s and I'd watch with him when I'd visit.

Doctor Who episodes don't seem to be readily available in a free format that I've seen.

Roughly how much would it cost someone if they decided to watch every single episode from every single season from start to finish? Thousands of dollars? I'm asking sincerely.

Many of the earliest episodes are gone. The last 12 seasons are available on HBOMax. You could look into the possibility of some libraries having DVDs of earlier seasons.

The first 26 seasons in the first series are missing 80+ episodes so watching them all is no longer possible. That series ran from 1963 to 1989. The 12 seasons of the second series started in 2005.

It is an ambitious project to watch them all. You might check to see if some of them are available on YouTube.

Seems like you can watch it on Britbox for £5.99/ $6.99 @ month. I watched it from the start in 1963, aged 5, I recall diving behind the sofa for the scary bits, and the special effects that seemed pretty convincing then. Black and white...

If you download illegally from pirate sites, it needn't cost you anything (not a recommendation, just a statement of fact). If you were to go through a legal means, it would depend on how many episodes you were planning to watch per day and how you were watching (streaming or DVD). It would take me a couple of months for sure.

I originally watched them all on Dailymotion before getting the DVD's. I'm currently watching my way through all the DVD's with info text on (have already watched through the DVD's at least once before so on my third run-through).

When I was watching them online I'd google the name of the story and episode number (e.g. An Unearthly Child episode 1) and would get the Dailymotion video at the top of the search. I used a wikipedia page that listed all the episodes to keep track of where I was up to.

A lot of the stories from the first two Doctors are missing but audio still exists and they've filled in a lot of the gaps with animation now so can still be watched. Each story can be several episodes long so will take a while to watch through them all. As others have said you also have the option of streaming services that host the series online.

I'm not sure on costs, I personally got all my DVD's second hand and used a DVD comparison website to look for the cheapest I could lol. Took me a while to build up my collection and would buy boxsets when I could.

If you decide you like the show I would also recommend the Big Finish audio stories. They're voiced by the original actors with original stories, often times a lot darker than what you could get away with in the tv show. Big Finish sometimes offer free stories on their website so worth checking out to see what you think.

Strangely the us charity archive.org had one but it's been taken down????

Dr Who goes back to the 50's, I (Ron's) wife purchased my dvd's over many years from many sources; BBC Canada, Amazon just to name a couple places. Yes, it can be very expense to purchase all the episodes in one shot as each one tends to run anywhere from $19.99 Cdn for a single dvd up. Each dvd contains 4 to 5 episodes, there are approximately 862 as of January 1 2021. I may have missed a few since there a are 296 stories over 38 seasons starting in 1963 then there are the special episodes. Good luck in find all of them.

If you look for the first episode it was broadcast in 1963 ,some people say it's a bad copy of the BBC production the quatermass experiment
