Does anyone know or have any advice on how to temporary work? Specifically jobs that are only one or two months in length?

I second that. You have to get up early for the Home Depot crowd. On breaks from university, and to earn money I used to go to the day labor office and they would always have something for me because I was a diligent worker. However, it taught me what I did not want to do for a living.There are firms that specialize in temp hires. These can range from office, restaurant, drivers, constuction, etc.
Just goggle temporary employment firms.
Construction companies hires daily workers, some pick up hires near home depot, but it's usually word of mouth where employers pick up daily workers. In Minneapolis, I use to see a bunch of guys hanging out near the landscaping parking lot at home depot, waiting for work.
Good luck, l am sure others have suggestions. Also check Craigslist online, sometimes you see jobs like car washers, etc. People don't stay very long at these jobs.
