How would decorate at Christmas?

What colours?
I'm not sure her but I always like pink for Christmas.
What colours would you use this year?
Would you put light on your house?
I would love lights on my house and a light up nativity in the garden and light up Santa and reindeers, you put them on the roof.
I love seeing houses all lit up.

I don't decorate, although I can appreciate the efforts of others. Christmas is a bad time of the year for me. The season is about love, friendship, socializing, parties, gatherings, joy, and cheer. I want to participate and feel that more than anything else to a level of physical pain, and yet I cannot have it. Not one little bit. Last year is the first year I can remember that I did not have to take antidepressants to avoid killing myself, thanks to the support and friendship here on this forum. Even then, it was difficult and painful. Just typing this up makes me feel like crying.

No, I will not be decorating this year.

This is in my old house (Christmas 2022) but it will be pretty much the same this year, except now I have the space for a full size Christmas tree so I can ditch the Charlie Brown tree lol

I love Christmas but I also hate it because of the family aspect. I don’t have a good relationship with my family and have had to cut ties with most of them.
I’ve just accepted that I’m kind of a grinch. I enjoy Christmas by myself.

This is my old kitchen table, which is now in my art studio in the back corner of my dining room, since I now have a full kitchen and full dining room. So these decorations will probably be on my new dining room table this year (the black one.)

Ugh looking at pictures of my old condo makes me feel so grateful for what I have now. I worked hard for this.

I set up a small artificial tree in the living room and a wreath on my front door. Usually by that point in the year, I'm exhausted from work. I use the holidays as a time to relax.

Every year I tell myself that next year I won't wait until the last minute to send out holiday cards, and the next year I wait until the last minute anyway. Such are the best-laid plans of mice and men.

Christmas is just an extra-lonely time for me. I rig up a big "half tree" made of lights on the front of my house, put it on a timer set for minimum power use, and try to ignore it. I have gotten better at timing the work on the display to not freeze my fingers. I used to do more, but I don't fit in here.

I’d display all of my Christmas/holiday music boxes (I have a lot!) and musical porcelain Christmas/winter dolls. I have one doll that is 42 inches tall and Christmas themed and that would be my centerpiece of decorations. I’ve actually managed to get some rare Christmas songs in my collection including It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Happy Holidays, and Christmas in Killarney.

I am sorry for your pain.
Hope you find healing and peace and joy again especially at Christmas.

Hope you feel better, Jesus loves you
As an autistic it feels easy not to fit but I hope you find a place for yourself and some hope at Christmas. You are a nice person.

You deserve it, it all looks very pretty. I am sorry about your family I get very lonely too but I still have members I feel close too but wish I had a mother I felt closer too and miss, close female relationships.

I decorate a tree and put my handmade Christmas cutouts up in the windows, but putting up a lot of decorations by yourself is tiring, and nobody comes over to see them, anyway. Mostly I'll be going to my mother's house to see her house all decorated and then maybe going out for a drive in the evening to see other houses lit up.

My mother's having her house remodeled as sort of a duplex with my uncle and his family while she has part of it as her own, however, so she might not have as much room for decorations.

I’m trying to get a video game themed Christmas tree with ornaments to do for Christmas.
I like the classic look too. Kinda 1950’s era. Feels genuine and joyful. Especially the coca-cola Santa.
I like the classic music from the 40’s along with Trans-Siberia Orchestra.
I also recently acquired a Star Wars Christmas cd.
Favorite movie Scrooge. All adaptions save 2018.

I put 2 trees up In my living room. One in my bedroom and a white one in my dining room . I also put Christmas garland on doorways , and staircase spindles . I have some Christmas ornaments from the 1950s from my grandparents which I like to put on one of the trees .
Outside I used to do lights but last few years I put a color projector on the yard that reflects on my house.Plus is really only like Christmas music from 1940s,and 1950s. So I usually have that on around the holidays

That sounds so cool.

I am not planning on putting up a Christmas tree because it would take up too much room in my home. I have enough Christmas and holiday music boxes to make it festive enough. I have some interesting ones such as musical tins and this nativity scene that has a rotating plate in the back that makes it look like angels are flying over the scene.

Any colours really. My Christmas tree is green with lots of different tree ornaments that I forget what ones we have so each December when I first get it all back out I'm pleasantly surprised at what Christmas ornaments we have lol.
