How would you define "friend"?

Hi,

If someone asks you how many friends you have, on what criteria would you base your answer?

f. -_-

I would define friend this way; "A friend is a person who knows you and you know him well and he accepts you as you are. A friend helps you in bad situations and defends you. A friend likes to be with you a lot and never do something what would hurt you."

Something like that.

+1 - Something like that :)

I can count my friends on one hand! Me, Myself and I

A friend to me is either a person I hang out with or communicate with on at least a semi-regular basis that I have fun with, who has fun with me. Or someone that I have established a deeper connection with. I have some good friends who are friends even if I never get to see them. It's hard to describe.

I'd say I have a (very) few good friends and a few more that are just acquaintances.

I would be in a similar situation to Chris. The main problem is that all of my friends either work or have college so I don't see them often. All of them are mainly my brother's friends who I have become friendly with too. One or two I have become closer friends with.

To me, a friend is someone who accepts me the way I am without questioning or trying to change me, who listens to me and doesn't talk too much him/herself, and actually has respect for me. Someone who's not full of him/herself and actually cares about other people and how they feel.

i have one best friend understands me and accepts me for who i am i trust him and his girl friend is a very good friend of mine as well sadly they are no where near home at this time. the rest of the people i know through friends and school.

" a friend to me will be there for you as much as they can they will accept me for who i am " thats all i can think of for now...

Do these criteria work both ways? So, if you want others to care about your feelings, do you care about theirs? And not talk 'too much'? Etc. Accept you as you are is one of those concepts that people seem to be able to make mean almost anything. Nobody does that literally. That'd be an end to laws, if taken literally!
