I absolutely adore the internet.

The vast amount of knowledge and information just at mercy of your fingertips is amazing. The amount of websites and freedom on the internet is amazing. The fact that people can actually disprove lies at an instant and inform everyone is truly revolutionary.

The internet has helped my life greatly. I cannot express my gratitude to the creators of the internet. Its a very wonderful invention that allows you to even communicate with people in foreign countries! Its marvelous, the fact that i can chat to someone in the US,Canada,Spain and Japan with a snap of a finger is eye opening.

Most people don't nor do they realize how amazing the internet is. Whenever my fingertips touch the keyboard as that little symbol that indicates where my line is, whenever i go on google and realize "I have access to nearly all the information in the world" that shot of dopamine gets me very giddy and excited.

Of course i use the net in moderation. I am against extremism.

But does anyone else like the internet?

Its great.
There's more false information then correct information on it though, checking sources is a must.

apsie Of course. Multiple sources is the way but frankly i've found most stuff that i encountered on the internet to be true after a thorough investigation of any source i meet.

I also like to investigate whether the source is true or not. Its a fun little detective game for me :D.

I watch kids now and see they have never been in a time when there was no internet. I was born when the 1st hydrogen bomb was tested and was a teen when man landed on the Moon.

As a child I had the wonder of Buck Rodgers and Dan Dare to fuel my mind, images of giant super computers and wireless image communication were mostly sci-fi. I remember the first tv in our road, we had it, and the neighbours came around.

So much has been seen through my eyes, yet I feel the internet was my greatest of things. I was there at the start, a ZX81 and a Dragon64, I learnt to programme like it was there locked in my mind already, just waiting for the right tools. Bulletin boards gave me access to information faster than any postal service, information my libraries didn't have, and I bathed in all that knowledge.

It is as much a part of me as my limbs, it is my window not just on the world but out into the universe. To see what I could never have hoped for in my life is an awesome experience, one I treasure daily, and my love of it has never waned as I grow with it.

So, I guess I'm addicted ;)

Well...it sure makes those Funk & Wagnall encyclopedias we had sure look lame. :p

But the intrusiveness of the Internet is pretty alarming as well.

Don't forget that this is only one side of the same coin: there are just as many lies as facts out there, and the Internet makes it easy for people to disseminate them.

Good point. Like the difference between substantiating something from an .edu versus a wiki source. Browser beware...

But if you should encounter any Nigerian princes online, feel free to take them at their word. :D

Well, Wikipedia isn't always wrong, especially when there are volunteers to check for accuracy and bias, but it's better to take stuff from there with a huge grain of salt.

My alarm bells ring whenever i go on Wikipedia because the information could be nearly edited by anyone and could not be true. So i do take a massive grain of salt whenever its a wiki or one of those scam sites with "secrets" to get you rich in "1 day".

I love the internet. Gone are those encyclopedia sets that had to be replaced every few years. A wealth of information at your fingertips. Love it!

Google maps is awesome. Weird to locate where I lived some 50 years ago. The neighborhood has changed a bit....lol.
