Imperfectly Perfect
After a rocky 3 years spent on disability, I managed to get a job last week. A security guard contracting company hired me for one of their sites. I just passed the background check and I go to orientation on Thursday. I'm absolutely terrified of rejoining the working world. I don't know what to expect and am concerned that I will not meet the supervisor's expectations. Yet I know this irrational because I worked for this same security company from Jan 2002-July 2003. I will be even working on the exact same site I was on but I will be armed this time. Back in my day, there were no armed guards at the site. The pay is surprisingly good and there is even occasional overtime.
Now, I will also have to fight that strong urge I always have to continuously better myself. I both want and need employment that is within my comfort realm. The last thing that I want to do is backslide into disability because I wanted too much for myself. Simple and easy does it is the way to go.
