I just had to turn down a job at Heron Foods

Because it's in Jordanthorpe, Sheffield, an area that's hard to get to for someone who doesn't drive.

If it had been at the Heron Foods branch in Hillsborough, the shop that used to be Woolworth's, that would've been ideal as it's easy access, just get off the Tram at Hillsborough corner and walk up Middlewood Road, all of that means nothing to you guys because you're American though.

@Rich Allen

Congratulations on turning down a job! That is fantastic.

While the situation did not result in employment, hopefully you got some good interview experience and you might have found an employer that has a job role that you can fulfill. If so, then success!! Take that understanding and look for a similar job role within that company that is more accessible and closer to home, also look for roles in similar companies - and keep looking.

Well it's nice that you had the choice to accept the job or not even though I'm sure it was bound to be a no anyway because of it being out of reach to you.

One doesn't have to be on either side of the pond to understand having a lengthy commute involving public transportation. I had such a commute for ten straight years...from Pleasant Hill to the Montgomery Street station (San Francisco) using BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). It sure took a chunk out of my paycheck.

From my perspective at the time, only rich people have a car they can afford to park in San Francisco. :eek:

I changed my mind and had a punt on the job today, they sent me an email this morning about it asking me to give them a call, so I did, and initially I turned down the job because it's hard to get to, but then I Googled the location and it's not as far away as I thought, so I applied online for the position of "Senior part time Sales Assistant", declared my disability (I had to, it was part of the application) and they said they'd be in touch if I was successful.

Always take the time to collect as many facts as you can in support of making a decision. Good luck.

I'm expecting a call on the mobile on Monday about this position.

I'll be residing at my Parents' till further notice from Sunday anyway due to Kitchen renovations at the Flat.
