I keep returning to things that annoy me

Currently, I keep returning to a Facebook page where everyone complains and I find their complaints annoying. I try to justify their complaints everytime, but it still annoys me every time I read their comments. I've done things like this in the past. I just can't pull myself away from things which I seek to justify despite being painfully annoyed by them. I think I've even returned to things that are annoying continuously in hopes they'll get better, but to no avail. I've tried reminding myself to just ignore them. I've even posted my laments on my own Facebook page, and yet I end up returning eventually.

As said many times on this forum and probably others; comment sections on social media are terrible. It's fine that everyone has an opinion, but I don't know if I'm that thrilled about everyone having a platform to voice the ugliest opinions (regardless if I agree with them). Sometimes it's better to shut up and just not blurt out anything...

What's worth noting, especially in relation to another thread you posted, where I commented, that perhaps some obsessive behaviour might stem from boredom; would it be possible this is the same thing? I know if I would end up bored, I'll end up reading comments over and over and just get worked up over it. So rather than that I went out and got a bit more involved with any hobbies I have. Getting worked up by the ramblings of people online, who sometimes, just stick around to get people worked up (that's the basics of trolling) is not worth my time.

Also, when it comes to comments, there seem to be 3 simple rules I often live by (put in a spoiler since I can't be bothered to find a non-animated gif, and animated gifs are distracting out in the open most of the time);

That's a good point. Thanks. Some of my favorite websites only update weekly and I only have one Youtuber who updates regularly anymore. I also suck at video games despite having like a hundred of them. :p

Give a way to let people say their opinions with little to no moderation and you get nothing but stupidity. That's not to say everyone else is stupid, but everyone has an opinion on something even if that person knows nothing about the subject. There's nothing wrong with an opinion, but ill-informed opinions aren't worth paying attention to, sadly the internet makes it all too easy for them to be shared with the world.

Stop caring or stop reading.

I can't stand Facebook. It does NOTHING good for me. My ex forced me into it back in the day. Since then I've hidden the whole timeline, turned off all notifications, and locked it from new comments, so there's no reason to go back, nothing can happen. It is purely a placeholder for my family to say I'm related. Quit using it for a period of time and you'll probably not even think about it anymore.

Ok, so it turns out the organization whose Facebook page I frequent despite it making me upset has made some changes that makes things seem a little better. They're a racing organization whose first two rounds had major issues its fans didn't like. The organization has created new rules to try to correct that.

BTW, I've been using Facebook for six years (has it really been that long?).

I couldn't help but laugh at this initial post, especially the title. That is soooooo me. I can't let stuff go and I will just argue and argue and argue and take a break to do some research and then argue some more. Here lately I've taken a new approach that seems to be working well for me. I will allow myself one statement, very occasionally two if I feel I can't resist the urge, but I shut down after that and won't go back to read any responses at all. I made my point, if you want to argue about it be my guest but you'll be going at it alone. The initial statement gives me that release I can't seem to hold back, and THEN I'm better able to cut myself off from it.

I guess facebook comes down to what you use it for and how you use it.

Some people complain a lot about facebook and what people post there. Me, not so much. Yes, I see stupidity, but eventually those people will either be unfriended or are filtered from my newsfeed.
