The claims shocked viewers on Twitter who said the dad should "go back to school" while the National Autistic Society said there needed to be an "increased understanding" of the condition
A Jeremy Kyle guest made a shocking claim that his ex partner's sexual habits were the reason for his son's autism.
The guy insisted the reason his four-year-old son suffered from Asperger's Syndrome, a type of autism, was because his ex "dropped her knickers for any man".
It shocked viewers on Twitter who called the guest "ignorant" and an "idiot" who needed to "go back to school".
Telling the presenter his reasoning, the guest, who is called Kyle, said: "He has Asperger's Syndrome due to the way she's obviously been having other men around."
The baffled host asked his guest: "You're blaming your child's autism on the way she is as a mother?", to which he responded, "Yes."
Kyle believed his ex girlfriend's sexual habits were the reason for his son's autism
Later the host again asked Kyle how he can blame Jade for his child's autism and he responded: "It's the way she is living, not giving him the right help, not letting him [their son] see his dad."
The host also read out a line that the guest had said previously to the show's team: "I think his autism is down to the fact of her behaviour like she drops her knickers for any man."
One Twitter user said: "'I blame my cheating ex for my sons autism' ..You don't catch it or develop it gradually!! Go to school you absolute tool! #jeremykyle"
Another said: "This fool on Jeremy Kyle blaming his ex's behaviour for their sons autism it doesn't work like that you f***ing idiot."

Kyle was on the show to try to get access to his child because he said his ex-girlfriend was stopping him from seeing his son.
Jade was shocked at Kyle's comments
The couple split three years ago and Kyle said his ex, Jade, was making it "impossible" to see his son and he had tried to go through the courts to get access but it had proved unsuccessful.
But Jade had a very different story as she said she had given Kyle every chance to be part of their son's life but he had failed at every opportunity.
She explained to Jeremy that Kyle had been attending supervised visits with their son successfully and gave him the chance to have unsupervised visits but he failed to turn up.
Kyle claimed he had an "emergency dentist appointment" that he had told Jade about two weeks previously.
Host Jeremy was absolutely flabbergasted that Kyle had cancelled a visit with his son for an "emergency" dentist appointment that he had booked in advance.
Jeremy couldn't believe his guest's claims
After Jade explained that Kyle had been in prison three times for violent behaviour, she claimed he had beaten her up and pushed her in front of a car while she was pregnant with their son.
"He threw me in front of a moving car to kill his son," and she screamed at her ex, "You pushed me in front of a car to kill your child!"
Jeremy wished the father "good luck" before pointing out that as an "ex-thug" it could be quite difficult for the courts to take him seriously.
Kyle called his ex a "lowlife scum" who was "using her child as a weapon", before the TV host shot him down and said that his drug use and violent behaviour was one of the reasons he wasn't able to see his son.
Jade said that Kyle threw her in front of a car while she was pregnant
He added that he needed to get off drugs if Kyle wanted to be in with a chance of succeeding in court, before suggesting if things didn't work out he should "try the Judge Rinder show, he might be able to sort you out".
A spokesperson for the National Autistic Society said: "NAS research shows that over 99% of the public have heard of autism, but this statement shows the importance of increasing understanding about the condition.
"Asperger syndrome is on the autism spectrum. Autism is a life-long developmental disorder which affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people and the world around them.
Kyle and his new partner
"Autism doesn’t have a single cause. Research indicates that many factors are at play, involving the interaction of genes with each other and with the environment.
"Evidence suggests that these factors then impact on the development of the brain - it is not due to emotional deprivation or the way a person has been brought up.
"Autism affects more than 1 in 100 people in the UK and can have a profound effect on individuals and their families. With proper understanding and the right support at the right time, people on the spectrum can live complete and fulfilled lives."
