We have only brown pelicans where I live. I've never seen a white one.

Yes. I live in the middle of the continent along a major watershed, so I only ever see pelicans when they pass through on their seasonal migrations in spring and fall. They are such a unique sight here that I have always watched for them when they kettle above the river bottoms.

Curiously enough while bald eagles are still relatively uncommon, we have had some of the largest and oldest populations in the country. Same goes for the Canada Goose.
