I'm a high functioning autistic and I want to join the military

I have high functioning autism and I want to know the military's policy on this. Will I be automatically rejected? I got a 55 on my ASVAB on the first try and a 57 on the second try. I'm not stupid by a long shot, I can interact and get along with people and also follow instructions and do as I am told. I've been working on my body by jogging and using dumbbells soon.

If I understand it correctly, such decisions these days are made on a case-by-case basis at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

That if you were formally diagnosed with ASD you would be further evaluated by a medical "specialist" who will either certify you for basic training or reject you for specific medical reasons. Something no recruiter alone can really help you with.

In essence it appears that this is by no means an objective process with a simple conditional answer. If you examine the medical conditions that may prevent you from joining the military under "neurological disorders", you'll see that neither Autism Spectrum Disorder or Aspergers Syndrome are specifically noted.

However there are other things listed that may or may not apply to you from the perspective of a medical professional who examines you. And ASD is medically considered a developmental disorder itself. There may be additional tests associated with your neurological profile.
