Hello, me too is a stimmer. When agitated stim and when happy, stim. It is like my hands want to squeeze and squeeze with zeal because of how happy I am lol when agitated, I used to punch my head, but yeah don't do that now, but won't make eye contact and will shake my leg or legs.
I am 45 and married and a friend who is an NT says that I will always be a teenager and has accepted that I am an aspie
Awe well that's nice that your friend has accepted you.
I have very selective friends as it is hard for me to interact with people, even people I havent seen in a while. I stim when Im excited or nervous, talk about sensory overload uh. My Stims are a bit odd though but I have many, ex. Rub my hands on my pants either my knee (if sitting) or my thigh, I play with the zipper of my jacket I zip it up and down or I just run my fingers on the teeth of it, basically I'll run my fingers through anything that has ripples on it. One stim I've done for over 15 years is i clench my jaw shut, close my eyes tight, scrunch my nose up a bit, and I put my hands over my nose and I wiggle my fingers together. That one I just do it randomly, but mostly when I'm feeling overly excited. And a few others I didn't mention.
Believe me, I have 2 friends only and like you, am very selective. I did think I had made a kindred spirit, but she proved more false than any other I thought could be friends!!!!!
