insensitive & ill-conceived autism musical

In the limited way I follow these things, I think kate hudson has collected a few 'worst actress' awards now.

I worked on a student short film about autistics (before I got dx'ed) which was about people who live in institutions but had musical ability, so we had to film them playing their music, they got really tired quickly, but filming is exhausting and boring generally, it's something you find out quite quickly. So I had to get them to smile and look 'fresh' when the director said 'rolling' but they were actually tired and bored, so... welcome to 'acting'. Pretend, pretend, pretend....and keep on pretending you're not tired, bored and thirsty. I had to tell him (the director) they needed a toilet and drink break. They came with minders from their institution, but they're unfamiliar with how boring film is too, so I had to mediate.

The student director had a lot of contempt for them, and a lot of communication problems so he asked me to try and get thru to them and I did. I never saw the finished product as the director had contempt for me too. but there was a kin thing there, even though I didn't know I was autistic at the time, they seemed to understand when I communicated with them.

Had a look at the trailer, the bright colours and dopey pop music are bad but I like the idea of the film. I might watch it for free somewhere.

If you're not Stan Kubrick, your film is gonna be all about compromises. I'm glad some people got a product over the line, even tho its very compromised. I can relate to the storyline at its most basic level, have an older sister with a lot of issues, not autistic, but a lotta issues.

Not something I'd likely go see, regardless of how the reviews went.

I gave up on people being sensitive to my needs back in grade school. That's not even an issue.
