Inulin (prebiotics)

Weird, I've just ordered a tub of this only a couple of days ago.

I've never tried it before, but it seems very interesting.

I want it for the prebiotic thing, and also because it's high fibre it should lower the GI of meals, so I can mix it with rice to prevent insulin spiking. I'm not diabetic, but according to my doctor I could end up diabetic if I don't watch sugars & starches.

I take kefir now which helps a lot, I'll probably change to non-dairy one soon though. If I don't have kefir for a few weeks I get IBS style symptoms from meat.

Inulin for a child might reduce calorie absorption - I'd research that carefully.

If you read the whole thing, it says to not use very much inulin, very little per day. Also it says side effects are usually, gas, bloating, maybe diahareia.
