The Hour in Arabic, The Moment which the universe comes to an end
Qu'ran is not a history book, unlike The Bible or Torah. I think Torah is part of The Bible.
We Muslims acknowledge that Bible and Torah are God's words, that got altered more or less. The Qu'ran AFAIK is preserved since revalation, One Book, One Man, One God etc.
But Lewis Mumford, somebody, wrote a book called
Myth of The Megamachine. He spoke about
axial Prophets. His thesis is these Prophets came maybe since 1000 BC and sealed with Muhammed (pbuh).
Lewis called Prophet Mohammed the final axial Prophet. The Prophets' job was to shut down The Mega Macine.
The Jewish Sabbath according to Lewis Mumford is a way of shutting down this Mega Machine. 5 prayers a day, or 3 prayers a day is a way for shutting down The Mega Machine.
From a Prophetic view, Adam (pbuh) was the first Prophet, and
Prophets comes up against Tyrants (edit2) and ended with Prophet Mohammed. Pharao vs. Moses is the most repeated story in Qur'an in my experience (Also the story of Adam creation). Lewis Mumford thinks Pharao vs. Moses are the best fitting archetypes for shutting down The Mega Machine, where the Elite are celebrated at top in this Pharoaic hirearchy. ... e.g. Why do we say
under-stand in USA? In Arabic we use a Psychotic meaningless word for
understanding.
... i relate understanding (فهم in Arabic) in Arabic to Asperger's.
So Moses (pbuh) poses a direct challenge to Pharaonic Project. Prophets challenged the idea we are here for The Glorification of a Hirearchy. And in Qur'an you can hear the discourse of High People when they try to survive The Divine at The Courtyard of Pharao, a Man-God, and Prophets whom teaches contradictory things than The Elite of Pharao.
Edit3: Whereas this is interesting the book of "axial Prophet's" was published after WWII. So Lewis Mumford is likely guessing...
Edit4:
@Kayla55 i apoligize being careless. Our Scool of Thought also say women don't have to frequent God's house (Mosque or Church ir Stnagigue?), but Men have to however. Frequent the Mosque or Church or Snagogue..
