I've been asked to ring up about 2 possible interviews!

Just been on my Hotmail this morning, and got 2 emails, one of which went in my junk folder so I nearly missed it, 2 companies want me to contact them for possible meetings based on my CV.

Thing is I did a new version of my CV last night tailored more towards customer service and sales and uploaded it to Totaljobs.com, so it might be that which has attracted them to me.

I'll give them a call and see what's what.

Call centres, I looked on their websites.

Logistically I cannot work in a call centre, I wear a digital hearing aid, I have problems hearing on a normal phone, I specifically asked at that interview I had last month whether they'd accommodate this, and they said, and I quote, "We'll look into it", and then I got turned down for the job! WTF is going on here?! Why are they contacting me for call centre jobs?! I'm deaf, I can't work in a call centre.

I've just rung the second one, first one hung up on me, and it's a full time call centre position, and for reasons outlined above and in previous posts, I cannot do it.

Meh, I tried! Daily Fail = bite me,

Don't let those idiots get you down. If you keep trying to get a job, you will eventually get a good one. It may help to change your job search approach a little.

Only a very low percentage of job seekers are successful when they answer ads or put an ad up seeking a job. Your chances go up if you can contact potential employers before they put in an ad. They may hire you to avoid putting in an ad and having to go through the interview process, which they may dread as much as you do.

Think about and do research on what jobs you would like to do suited to your skills and interests. Then find the companies that could use you and your skill set. Winnow through those companies and pick the ones you most want to work for.

Then you can contact the companies you want to work for. They may not need you yet but you can ask them when you should check back with them, because sometimes they will know. If not, you can find out how soon they want you to try. If they do not know or tell you, it will be necessary for you to guess at when to check back whether they have an opening for you yet.

After you check back a few times they may be so impressed with your initiative that they will invent a job for you and hire you. If that does not happen, you can call or otherwise contact them until they do have an opening and are ready to give you an interview. Your chances of getting the job are probably going to be higher than most other job seekers competing with you because you will not be a stranger to the interviewer.

I read books about this stuff and it may help you to do the same as well as studying it on the internet. There was a lot more good stuff in the books I read. I did get jobs sometimes because of using what I read about more effective ways to job hunt. I am sure you can do the same.

Best wishes for your job hunt.

Well I've just come from a local branch of Argos, I went to try and get an application form, but they said it's all done online now, anyway I went on their careers site, and the nearest customer service position to Sheffield is in the Frenchgate Centre in Doncaster! Which I could get to because the Train to Doncaster from Sheffield goes right to it, but I'd have to leave super early to get to the Station, as it's about half an hour's Train journey then I've got to get from the Station to the Argos before I would start work for 10-00 to 15.00 shift if I got the job, because they aren't recruiting in Sheffield.

However, Toys R Us are recruiting in Sheffield, and I could download and fill in an application for them, might do that.
