Probably not the right place to put this, but I'm bad at forums, so admin(s) feel free to move this if needed.
So if you don't know who Jigglypuff is, it's a Pokemon. If you Don't know what Pokemon is, you're missing out big time. Anyway, Jigglypuff is a Pokemon characterized as a small, knee-high balloon-like creature with cat-like features. Its most notable characteristic is its ability to sing, and upon listening, opposing Pokemon (or those who just happen to be in earshot) and humans alike will find themselves drowsy and fall asleep. Many fanfiction sites have customized stories about Jigglypuff; one such story wasn't a story but rather a philosophical point-of-view from the mind of a Jigglypuff itself.
The effects of Jigglypuff's song doesn't stop at the show; it affects you in real life as well! Did you know that Jigglypuff's vocals, as well as the background noise and music during her song, contain steady, flangering binaural beats that blend with the sound of its vocals, which in turn are carefully composed to stimulate the brainwaves of a sleeping individual, thus resulting in the need to sleep? Nintendo thought of everything, including therapeautic sleep! (I guess anyway, Lol)
Following that, I have a heartwarming story to tell. When the Pokemon GameBoy games first came out, the airing of the show and VHS movies shortly followed. It just so happened that as a birthday present my father had gotten me two Pokemon VHS's: Pokemon: The and Pokemon: ThunderShocked!
During the introductory scene to The First Movie, there is a segment targeted at younger viewers which depicts what Pokemon do when their owners leave leave them at a Daycare center. Turns out they get creative and go as far as to build their own park to play around in. Likewise, being a scene for children it's full of humorous occurrences, some of them bizarre, including a scene where a Pikachu and a Raichu get into a fight over a swingset, a Slowpoke is seen floating upright in the sky doing absolutely nothing, and for no particular reason a Bellsprout is dancing to off-tempo music. One of the transitions was a marquee of Jigglypuff rolling around in different directions, singing happily.
So after I got Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Blue, I focused mainly on yellow because its main feature was having Pikachu follow you on foot. One particular place in the game, Mt. Moon, was full of Jigglypuff roaming around, and about %75 are female. Lucky me, I had just so happened to mention wanting to catch one, and lo and behold, one of the many puffballs that waddle the Pokemon world jumps out in front of me! To my luck I'm able to weaken it just enough to catch her with a Great Ball, and my new best friend who I name Gummie is a lifelong part of my team.
As time went on, my father had somehow learned of a trick that preserves the battery pack inside your game's cartridge, making it last more than just six years, after which time it normally runs out and deletes your save, also disabling the ability to save instead giving you a "C144 ERROR." upon trying. But thanks to this trick which strangely involves a bag of ice in your freezer, Gummie has been a part of my life since, and to this day still continues to sing of my heroic deeds to Kanto.
Nintendo is just awesome.
