Jin from Samurai Champloo looks like an aspie

Jin from the anime series "Samurai Champloo" seems to be an aspie.
-Almost no facial expression.
-Monotone voice.
-No friends.
-Not talkative.
-Was obsessed with sword fighting more than all of his classmates.
-Lower reaction times which allows him to defeat most enemies in sword swinging fights.

Nah, I don't buy it. He doesn't have a monotone voice---just a cold one. And he's definitely got friends---Mugen and Fuu! What are you talking about? :p

(Also note that "no friends" is not a requirement people with ASD must have. Plenty of us have friends. We just aren't good at and/or comfortable with the whole socializing thing.)

And the low reaction time? I know you're not thinking based on that alone, but it would help qualify about half of all anime characters as autistic, so I'm not sure that it's a common trait. I wouldn't just read one study and assume it's the gospel.

He didn't have any friends at the beginning of the series. They only followed Fuu because she saved their lives and their tradition says that that they have to pay it back. And that's what both of them did in the end: Mugen saved Fuu's live and later Jin saved Fuu's live as well. And then Jin and Mugen were free to kill each other but it didn't work. And then the three of them parted ways again. The end.
 
While their relationship starts because they owe Fuu their lives, it becomes much, much more than that as they travel. They could go on without so much as a joke or a kind word to one another, but that's not what happens. And friends sometimes have to go separate ways for a time. The fact that the group splits at the end doesn't mean that Mugen, Jin, and Fuu aren't friends.
