Jiu Jitsu last night...

I went to jiu jitsu last night...first time in about 8 years. Absolutely nerve-racking...was about to walk out, but wife calmed me down and I made it through the class. When I first started mma and jiu jitsu...I was obsessed with it. I had to do it! I must do this! I must learn! Then we moved to the UK and there was no jiu jitsu to be found in our area.

Standing there waiting for class to start was horrible...watching people walk in I became more anxious. Good thing my family was with me...my son and I rolled (learned moves) and actually enjoyed ourselves. So it looks like I may get back into it again. Starting over again is so very difficult...but I made it through...I have to keep telling myself that or I won't go back.

Have you revisited any previous obsessions?

Ahhhhh, yes, the anxiety of anticipation. I used to feel that, putting into a river for whitewater in my solo canoe. That disappeared once I hit the first drop. Of course I would get butterflies scouting a Class IV rapid like Big Mallard on the Salmon, but all thought was shut down as I concentrated to hit my line through the rapid once I was in it.
 
That is great! It is inspirational, too. A lot of people did stuff, even before COVID, and just gave up. THere really is muscle memory, you know! You can get it back.
 
Ballet class. I went for years in twenties. Then as a older adult l went back. Muscles do have memories. I started running late in life and l may stop for awhile put l always go back to it because it releases stress.

Great that you had fun and were able to get back into it!! :)

I would love to try figure skating again but I’m too fat now and I also can’t fall :(

What would drive you to get back to that point? Could you obtain that goal?
Probably impossible for me to lose enough weight at this point, I have a disability that prevents me from doing strenuous exercise and I am starting to think I have an eating disorder :(

Maybe try to lose weight and see what happens. Could you possibly do low impact exercise? You needn't do jumping or plyometrics to at least get your blood moving. It does wonders for me...turns my outlook back to positive.

I do have bad knees, a bad left shoulder and a bad right hip. The pain I feel is not debilitating, but it does hurt enough where I contemplate whether I should continue my physical goals. My point...a little is better than none. Do what you can. :) Please watch this...
