Judging the legitimacy of online/work-at-home transcription work

I found a company that offers transcription services called Way With Words (who apparently also own a company called Nibity). They appear to hire people based on a multi-part assessment/application proces all done from a distance (that I have not tried to do so I don't know what kind of personal info they request). Is that sketchy all by itself?

Also, they apparently pay you via PayPal.....does any legitimate company pay people only using PayPal? (And, as an aside, if legitimate companies do this, does anyone know why?)

Does anybody know anything about them? Or have any tips for judging the legitimacy of offers for this type of work?

Check out this about them:
zero: Why I think Way With Words Group is a sophisticated scam

I did read it and all the comments, but I had forgotten that part until you reminded me (thank you!) - Scribie.

I looked it up last night -- there is far less sketchiness on their site, I might apply. First I'm going to see if I can find anything else written about them.

I don't understand why these place pay their transcriptionists with PayPal -- I suppose it's better than asking me for my banking details, though. Maybe that's why -- too costly to send cheques to people all over the world, too sketchy to ask people for banking information?

You can have Paypal send the income to your bank account. Good luck with this.
