Hello, I'm UK based and middle-aged. I realised I might be on the spectrum 9 years ago, and spent 3 years thinking and reading before I felt able to say I know I am. I've spent the last 6 years getting used to that and what it means to me.
I've used the knowledge to make some fairly major changes to my life, which have benefitted me greatly, although it is still mainly struggle, lol. The biggest benefit was being able to turn my sensory issues into a career.
I have two kids (also Autistic) of 12 and 9, and am currently on the pathway to diagnosis. I'm somewhat privileged in respect of communication, as I was hyperlexic as a child, and words have been my main comfort throughout life. Self-employed after 25 years in Customer Service fields, I also like to write a bit, from time to time.
I currently live alone with 3/4 of a very spoiled cat in a rural part of England, and spend the majority of my time procrastinating, with the occasional work break. Getting married for the second time sometime next year, if all goes to plan.
That's it for now, I guess.
