Hi,
My name is Ann and I am trying to understand more about Asperger's. I've been reading about it over the past few years and keep wondering if I have it. I have taken whatever online tests I could find and have tested within the range. I would like to find somewhere to go to be tested and evaluated but I've search the Internet and can't find anywhere. So I'm just trying to learn more on my own.
I have many of the traits of Aspies but not all. Personally, it would comfort me to find out that I have it because it would explain why I always feel like I don't fit in, or why I'm different.

Hi Ann,

Very deep subject. I am Bill BTW. I am on my 12th book about Aspergers. Please, read the books. They are changing the criteria for a diagnosis and if you are an adult getting a diagnosis may be difficult. I have been mis-diagnosed many times. You can't diagnosis in a 15 minute meeting, but that has happened to me plus wrong meds.

Seems you have just started the journey I did months ago. I am 49 and a successful CPA. But I trouble in school and growing up and the signs are everywhere, but no one knew of Aspergers in the 70's. Look up Tony Attwood's Guide, John Elder Robison books are excellent. I also have enjoyed Temple Grandin.

Just to add to what Kg said about books you may want to read up specifically about girls with Asperger's too (assuming you are female) as Asperger's can present slightly differently in girls then boys and alot of girls / women go undiagnosed because of the slight differences. I'm currently reading Aspergirls by Rudy Simone and it's like reading my life story so much of it resonates with me.

Are you in the UK? If you are you could contact the national austistic society and they could advise you on how to get a diagnosis as it varies from county to county.

I am in the US. I seem to find testing locations listed in the bigger cities but not very close to where I am.
