Being part of this forum has been so great for me and you have all restored my faith in humanity. I have to say that I think people on the spectrum are so much nicer than those who are not. I'm glad to be part of this community. Non-judgmental, respectful, considerate, understanding, without expectation and accepting - you don't get much of that from NT's. (Most NT's).

It's a whole different place from the one we're used to, isn't it? Many become this way as a result of being marginalized by a society we don't understand. Instead of being on the outside here, we're on the inside.

And now for the weirdness that comes about by feeling emotions about this:

LOL love the meme. SOOOOOO true.

So true. I find it hard to let my guard down at times, feeling the need to explain oddities away still, till I see others are like me. It's a safe place, but it still feels odd to be safe around......well...people!

Pats, I share your sentiment about this site. Every day I have new issues to ponder and I find examples of what people's issues are swirling around in my own life and past experiences. I'm much more at peace with myself nowadays. I thought all my life that I was always wrong about everything. I WAS wrong, because I believed that the NTs were right. I do not regret any of the sarcastic and rude comments I have made since the age of 4. Even at an early age, I knew when people were overstepping their bounds, and I could snap back at them easily. There is nothing uglier than an adolescent know-it-all who can't defend his opinions. Well-to-do kids with straight A's are the biggest liars and cheaters. Here, I feel I am among my own kind. If I were an NT, I'd be like the other NTs. I prefer to be a little off. Life has been exciting, and I am proud to be on the spectrum. It shows me that I have courage.

I agree, there are also some pretty nice NTs on here as well. I try to give everyone a fair shake, until I have a reason not to. I've also met some pretty disagreeable and hurtful ones too here. One person told me that "All people on the spectrum are sh-t and all the time I spent talking to them was fake". That hurt, but I shouldn't have let it.

Well said Pats. I've looked at quite a few online AS communities in recent months, forums and FB groups, and this is the most constructive and positive I've come across.

I haven't been with any other groups.
This was the first one I found after my diagnosis and I felt no need to look further.
I'm a night owl and stay up all night usually on-line.
This is like my end of the day place to be.
Sure there are always going to be the occasional disagreement, but, we seem to keep it together and
have great mods.
Thanks guys for being here. :)
