This is the incredible moment a Kansas cop saved a drowning autistic boy from a park pond after seeing him slip in to the water.
Aaron Bulmer was responding to reports of an armed robbery when he spotted the boy walking alone towards the town of Topeka's Central Park on Sunday.
He got out of his patrol cruiser and was walking towards the child when he suddenly fell in to the water.
Instinctively, he jumped in to the pond after the boy who did not seem to know how to swim.
Bulmer was able to bring his head above water and hold him while a walker, who watched the rescue unfolded, rushed over.
He frantically radioed for an ambulance as the little boy, who has not been named, whimpered and cried.
The police officer handed him over to the walker and ordered her to remove her jacket to give the disoriented child while they waited for help.
The boy was left standing confused on the grass, soaking wet.
Officer Bulmer later learned that the little boy has autism and had walked out of his parents' home a few blocks away without them noticing.
They were reunited with him at a local hospital where doctors looked him over and found no serious injuries.
The hero cop told The Topeka Capital Journal he was in the right place at the right time to save a life.
'I believe that God put me into that situation. He allowed me to be in the right place at the right time.
'It definitely would have been a drowning if I would have been 30 seconds to a minute later.
'That kid would have drowned. He was flailing his arms and his head was fully submerged — you can actually see that on the video.'
