when i was growing up i remember watching lilo and stitch, i LOVED it. i've always been able to relate to lilo, i recently revisited it and came to the decision to headcannon lilo as autistic. does anyone else feel the same way or am i looking too much into this classic?

I love Lilo and Stitch too, I'm not a huge Disney fan (I'm incredibly picky about movies in general, although I really like Pixar movies, for the most part) but it is definitely my favorite Disney movie and Lilo also reminded me of myself! I also lived in Hawaii for a short time lol

I'm sure Lilo could be interpreted as an autistic character, whether that was the creator's intention or not.

A few people have said that one of my dogs acts like Stitch, lol

I loved the Lilo and Stitch tv series too.

I loved Hawaii, and I would move there permanently if it wasn't so expensive to live there and so hard to find jobs. I have a career where I live now so moving somewhere else would be hard.

I have six dogs lol, and someone is working on trying to rehome another one with me so it will be 7. I'm a crazy dog lady lol
Their names are Enzo, Kodi, Hex, Chesca (Francesca), Linda, and Odin. Their names are all over the place lol, I don't really have a theme.
I have 3 Dogo Argentinos, a working English Pointer, a Newfoundland, and a Portuguese Podengo. I compete in pretty much every dog sport imaginable with my dogs, but our main thing is Rally Obedience, and sometimes Agility.

I hope you can get a dog soon! Depending on what kind of dog you're looking for, I may be able to match you up with a responsible rescue or a reputable breeder. I'm a professional dog trainer and I can also provide all kinds of useful training tips! I have already helped lots of dog owners on here :)

Sorry if that was too much info, anyone who asks me about dogs is opening a can of worms lol :tearsofjoy:

i understand, i can't imagine moving somewhere so far away from me. my boyfriend has listed countless times he wants to move to massachusetts to attend MIT but the thought gives me so much anxiety. wow!! i love the names you chose for your dogs, i noticed one of them being named odin is that related to odin, god in norse mythology? it's so interesting you train your dogs! i've always wanted to have a service dog to help me with grounding and challenges i face but i know it comes with lots of time, money, and research. you don't ever have to apologize for sharing your interests! i don't know if dogs are a special interest to you but feel free to infodump on me anytime! :)

Lilo and Stitch is one Disney animation I have not seen. More recently I have been watching Anime. One which was near triggering for me that dealt with bullying, rejection, isolation and redemption is A Silent Voice. For me, a cathartic story.

Dogs are my main special interest, yes. Lol. Feel free to ask me anything about them, but be prepared for lots of infodumping ;)

He is named for the Norse god! I'm not Scandinavian at all lol, I'm Hispanic, but my favorite bands are Heilung and Wardruna so I've kind of gone down the Nordic culture rabbit hole.

I live in Massachusetts, currently! Lol
The area around MIT is very developed and urban with lots of diverse culture, but I live in the middle of nowhere in a rural area. I don't even live in a real town, I live in a census-designated place with a few thousand people. The bigger town around me has like 18,000 people, I think, but I live in a smaller community.
When people think of Massachusetts, they tend to think of the Boston area, but a lot of Massachusetts is just rural, or coastline. If you and your boyfriend ever do end up moving here, there are lots of nice places to live. The only real downside is that people are somewhat less friendly here than in other parts of the country. I have managed to make a bunch of friends here but some people are really standoffish or rude, and we have a reputation for that here lol.

I have a medical service dog that I trained mostly on my own, with help from a service dog trainer, and I can also be helpful if you have questions about how training service dogs works!
I purchased my service dog as a puppy for about $2500, and the training/exams were way more expensive. Purchasing an already trained service dog can cost upwards of $10K. It's easier to buy or adopt a puppy and then have them professionally trained by a service dog trainer.

Sorry for derailing this thread btw, everyone!! Madisen, you can send me a private message if you want to talk about more off-topic stuff :)

oo, i used to watch a lot of anime but i don't have the time anymore with college and my work. i looked up a photo of a silent voice and it does look familiar but i can't recall ever watching it. i'll have to find the time to watch it soon! :)

one of the best underrated Disney movies. I watched it the last year and I forgot how devastating it is.i Even Remember the tv series.
