They can be from a book, a movie, or from anything else fictional

Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:

Sam (iCarly)

The otters from the Redwall books (males: Keyla, Skipper of Mossflower, Tagg, and Inbar females: Grath and Tiria

Diego (The ice age movies)

Kaylee (Firefly t.v series)

Charlie and Itchy (All Dogs go to Heaven)

Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)
Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler (Gone With the Wind)
Beatrice Lacey (Wideacre by Philippa Gregory)
Gregory House (House, M.D.)

Can't think of any more at the moment...

- Fester Bester Tester & Karbuncle
- Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy
- That lightening bug in the Princess & the Frog Disney movie

Some I don't like for their personality, some just for their reason of being in said media, or for the issue they address.

- Sylar (Heroes)
- some iterations of The joker (Batman; I prefer the portrayal of The joker in The Dark Knight over the one in the original Batman movie. And let's not even consider the tv shows to be a great portrayal. Cesar Romero was ok, but not nearly as maniacal, and not to mention grim, as for instance Heath Ledger.).
- John Doe (Seven)
- Dexter (Dexter)
- Deadpool (Deadpool; and none of that Wolverine Origins crap)
- The comedian (Watchmen)
- Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribean)
- Judge Dredd (Judge Dredd)
- Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg (The fifth element)
- The dude (The big lebowski)
- Niv-Mizzet (Magic: the gathering)
- Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange)
- William Foster (Falling Down)

Hardly the full list of favorite characters, but at least it's a start.

I've started on Lost now.

So far I like John Locke a lot

But here's one

Spider Jerusalem (Transmetropolitan)

Sherlock Holmes
Mister Spock
Elphaba Thropp (Wicked Witch of the West)
Hannibal Lektor (Lector in movies, right?)
Sheldon Cooper
Erik the Opera Ghost
Amy Fowler (Big Bang Theory)
Violet, Claus, and Sunny Bauldelaire

In case if you haven't noticed, my favourite characters tend to have aspergian and/or sociopathic tendencies. What does that say about me? lol.

Charlotte the Dessert Witch/Bebe(Madoka Magica)
Elphaba Thropp(Wicked Witch of the West)
Sayaka Miki(Madoka Magica)
Courage(Courage the Cowardly Dog)
Darth Vader(Star Wars)

Bilbo Baggins. He wants to stay home and read books in his hobbit hole, but he gets pulled into a crazy adventure for which he is not prepared. Many people think that he can't succeed, but he surpasses their expectations after discovering a secret ability. In the end he gets tired of the mundane world and sails off to an island inhabited by elves.
