Looking for very temporary work in NYC inquiry

How does a person find temporary work in NYC, preferably near Brooklyn, Flatbrush area, besides Craigslist? Any ideas? Thank you.

Are there any employment Agencies over in NYC? You could sign up to a few and see what happens, that's what I did here in Sheffield, England several years ago, but obviously it didn't work for me because for various reasons I can't work full time.

The good thing is, not sure if this is true in New York, but over here, Agencies thrive on temp work contracts, people who work for a specific company for 3 to 6 months and move on, students love it, gives them the chance to earn some loot while they study.

I know that you said besides CL, but are you aware of the "gigs" section?

Temp agencies can usually get you into a job fairly quickly, I'd start there.

Edit:
I'm not sure of your background or experience, but there are also skilled trade temp agencies.
Two that I have had good experiences with are: Tradesman International, and Tradesource.
Also, Aerotek.

I'll let my friend know. Thank you.

Here's more info. on him and an update:

Well, temporary in NYC as in like until this Sunday, January 27. So, a temp agency would probably take awhile to process things.

The skills of the person are he used to be a wrestler (tried to become a professional when in middle and high school) and works for a very small moving company when in his home area. He also is very charisimatic socially and has prior experience with fundraising for non-profit organizations. Also apparently knows some things about Excel macros too.

Update:
My friend found a job putting up store shelves for a day. That's all I've heard so far.
