Looking to see if I fit in.

Hey there

I don't have an official diagnosis, and am still not quite sure if I'm on the spectrum, or it's something else, but it seems a likely factor in some of the things I have really struggled with for a long time.

I'm mostly just looking to see if I fit in with you guys and my situation resonates with anyone.

I'm quite a proactive person and enjoy intellectual discussions. I hope I might find, and also offer some help on the forum.

Nice to meet you guys.

Hi! Intellectual discussions are always welcome!

Is that a painted turtle you have as your avatar?
It was. But then I changed it to a picture of a recent canoe trip I went on. I may go back to the turtle at some point soon. I'm not the mose decisive person.

Are you familiar with the species?

In my area, painted turtles are the only native turtles, though they sometimes compete with released red-eared sliders, and on occasions, snappers.

Hi and welcome @Gwildor

Do hang around a bit, get to know us, follow some of the posts that interest you, and perhaps look at some of the older posts. THere is a good positive tone about the place, so pull up a chair and join us at the table.

I have seen all 3 in my area too. I'm a big fan of the natural world. I get a lot of enjoyment from categorizing and sketching the species when I go on my wilderness trips. Sort of like real life pokemon or something lol. Gotta collect em all. I particularly like the tails of snappers. They have a prehistoric feel.

It's usually whatever fascinates my insatiable curiosity at the time. If something is on my mind and piques my interes I want to know the subject intimately. often down to the atomic level lol. This has encompassed topics as varied as horticulture, sailing, archery, any of the sciences. And definitely psychology. Neurodiversity is definitely something I have been delving into deeply as of the past few years. How about yourself?

Name refers to the Masters of the Universe film I assume?

Haha yes. Good knowledge sir! I seem to be a treasure trove of useless knowledge myself. This was a favorite movie of mine when i was growing up and many of the characters and quotes are lodged in my head and refuse to budge even after all this time.

Sometimes people on the spectrum might have difficulty to form connections, or feel like they fit in anywhere. Regardless, I have seen them still participate in discussions. Don't be discouraged by the lack of connection you feel.

Part of being a spectrum is being unique. Our diagnosis like no other allows a variety never before seen in any diagnosis. The traits required for it can be completely and fully different for different people.

Good fav movie to have. My brother is a human encyclopedia of all sorts of facts and oddities. He's on the spectrum too.

I had the film recorded from TV. Watched it a lot. One time I told my Irish nan that she was Gwildor - whilst the film was playing. Needless to say she wasn't amused. Still - I see a resemblence.

My brother and nan in the early 90's.
