Hi Topher, and welcome. Nothing has changed - you do what you've been doing, except now with a little better understanding. :)

Thanks for all the replies! I was just a little lost. I didn't know if I had to see an asd specialist. I'm in my mid 30s and found out. I don't know if the VA has asd support. Could be why I didn't get suggested somewhere else. I'm very unaware of anything asd. I have seen a few videos. Any video or site links are welcomed too. Hope things are going well.

I'm sorry, I don't get it!

No need to apologise. It was a square root joke. I like to use puns. A=amazing then the two of us are the square root 2. Square is an old slang word for loser. Which is the opposite of amazing. I'm a little odd and goofy. I like puns.

Thank you! I like you! :)

Hi @TopherPwn and welcome to the community :)

Best next steps...
First off do what you already are - read, watch, listen to and digest as much information you can about ASP (Autistic Spectrum Phenotype) people - often labelled as ASD/ASC/Asperger's/HFA and others.
Second is to decide if you want to get diagnosed. Diagnosis is the best way to be 100% certain and the only way to get support and accommodations if you feel they would help, but it can have it's downsides too.

As to resources I'd recommend my own channel on YouTube
Autistamatic
Joe Jamfrey
Joe Jamfrey
& Max Derrat
Max Derrat

as good jumping off points. Max's channel is very broad in scope and not JUST about autism, but his autism videos are very informative.

Those should keep you going for a little while :)

I think you'll fit right in here. Your initial question doesn't have a simple set answer. Plus we are for the most part just people on the spectrum ourselves, not expert professionals here to provide answers, etc. Also it can vary depending on where (what country) your in.

I think the first 'step' is deciding whether to pursue getting a formal diagnosis or not. Your shrink can help you with that. Not everyone chooses to. There is self investigation, which you are doing. There is no medicine per se for autism, but there are meds for the co-morbid conditions that often come with it, like anxiety or depression. In general its like anyone else with any mental condition. Do you think you need help? Wish to talk with a therapist, etc. If you are having serious difficulties with work you can look into getting special accommodations at the workplace, or even disability, though that would require an official diagnosis.

Crap!
You'll fit right in here!
Except for the "odd".
And the "goofy".
And the liking puns, part.
This's no place for that...
non-conformist attitude.
(Sarcasm is also frowned upon, here.)

Welcome Aboard!

@Autistamatic has a youtube channel of the same name.
You will find some excellent videos attached to the link in his signature,
and a good starting point for your journey.

Speaking of journeys, I've been above decks too long.
Them oars ain' gonna pull themselves!

Nice to meet you!
I'll see you after the de-lousing and shackle-fitting.
See, you DID finally make it onto a cruise-ship, just like you always wanted!

Enjoy!
