Making plans with people

So I have been having this problem lately people trying to make plans with me they keep telling me they telling me there take me fishing and hunting but they never do and it's really starting to get on my nerves has anyone else been through similar situations like this ? And if so how do you deal with it? Trying to maintain and keep friends really sucks

I've learned to not really expect anything from anyone, and do everything myself. I find that people often say things like that but more often than not, dump out on what they said with no explanation. It's like they weren't really making plans, but making small talk. If I make plans with someone I go to great lengths to make sure I at least hold up my end of the deal, even if they don't show up.

I assume it's not going to happen until there's a time and date set. Even then I message them a few hours beforehand to confirm that it's actually happening.

Yes, it's small talk, ememes, not to be taken literally. I find it extremely irritating when people do this - I would rather they didn't bother. In the past, I used to think that I had made friends when people said this, that they were genuinely interested in me and wanted to hang out with me, but after a few times of people not following through with their suggestions, I started to get disillusioned and cynical about it, now I have learned not to expect anything from people unless there is a set time and place.

I find that people often express a desire to go do something without actually making plans (i.e. “we should grab dinner sometime!” or “let’s go camping sometime!”). I take these as compliments and nothing else, but if I want to hang out with said person I’ll tell them I agree and let’s pick a date to make it happen.

I like to have a routine as well, makes life so much easier to have plans made and see them stuck to.

Don't get me started on small talk as for making plans I know a few "acquaintances" outside my family I see maybe once a week and any "plans" are planned out.

I always try to focus on making my own plans or being with people who make plans first. Then if someone is last minute, you can tell them you already have something else. If they complain, then just say I need you to plan with me because my life is quite busy.

People whether last minute or not, if they are really your friends, will respect your time, energy, and schedule and not expect you to go at their whim. They can ask, but not demand.
