A Rockland County Court jury convicted Patrick Crowe of Orange County of repeatedly molesting a boy in Congers for more than 2 1/2 years.
The boy was 8 years old when Patrick Crowe started sexually abusing him in a Congers home at 47 Water's Edge between January 2010 and August 2012, Rockland District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said.
Crowe faces 25 years to life in state prison when sentenced June 2 by Rockland County Court Judge Rolf Thorsen, who oversaw the trial that began with jury selection on Jan. 29.
On Monday, the jury found Crowe guilty of one count each of predatory sexual assault on a child and sexual conduct against a child, felonies, as well as endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
The boy, who knew Crowe, testified before the jury via closed circuit television, Zugibe said. The District Attorney's Office's Special Victims Unit successfully made a motion to qualify the child as a vulnerable witness, allowing him to testify from outside of the courtroom.
"The defendant might have escaped punishment for his depraved acts had his young victim not bravely testified about his attacker's abusive and manipulative behavior," Zugibe said.
"Sadly, the consequences of such molestation for the victim are profound and may result in emotional trauma from which he may never fully recover," Zugibe said.
Crowe, who lived at 206 Cottage St., Middletown, remains in the county jail pending sentencing.
