Asperger's is a developmental disorder that can impact a person's ability to communicate and interact, but that isn't keeping one young man from being innovative.
"It latches onto the back of the car seat, as you can see, the metal part that comes up from the car seat's head rest," explains Daniel Storm Anderson.
The 19-year-old came up with "Snag-A-Bag," while riding in the car with his mom when she asked him to put her purse in his lap. He says the universal mount can be used on the back of car seats or tables.
"It will be a hook that you can twist and turn and latch onto tables," says Anderson.
Anderson has a provisional patent and hopes to get a licensing agreement so he can sell his product at major department stores. He also plans to sell at kiosks at Great Lakes Mall in Mentor.
He says it's not about becoming rich, but rather proving autism isn't a road block to success.
"I believe it's what you make of your disability. I believe you can make something of your life," Anderson says.
If he is successful, Anderson says would like to use his earned money to support his family, giving the rest to charity.
"He's just got lots of ambition and drive. And when he finds something he's interested in, nothing stops him," says Anderson's mom, Denise.
Anderson's dad gave him $1,500 to get started.
He has one year to market his product and then he can get an official patent.
