Might drop a clothing size soon - having to buy new clothes when you lose/gain weight

Over the past few years I have lost a lot of weight that I might soon drop a clothing size from an XXL to an XL. I'm surely going to miss my favorite clothes if it happens, although they will still fit (they will just fit large). In preparation for this drop in clothing size, I have ordered my favorite shirt in an a size XL (the Spring/Summer 2018 IZOD Windward Interlock Polo in Fairy Tale pink) from Amazon while it is still in stock. If I am still not quite there, I will hold onto it until I fit. My other favorite styles I will look for them on eBay/Poshmark/Mercari when I reach that point (some of them are quite readily available, others are harder to find).

I wonder, if you ever lost or gained weight and had to change a clothing size, have you ever had a certain feeling towards particular clothing that you wanted to buy the same style in a different size? While losing weight is an achievement, it will be a bit of a goodbye to my favorite clothes that I love. Luckily I was able to get my favorite polo in an XL while it was still in stock on Amazon. I know, it is a race against the fashion calendar buying a shirt that was mainly sold two years ago (department stores usually will put them on clearance, but Amazon tends to keep items from past collections for quite a while).

Hey congrats on losing weight. That is a terrific thing to hear. If you absolutely love a top, see if a alteration shop will take it in a bit on the side seams. I had a lady seamstress take in a exercise jacket and she did a great job. You put it on inside out. Then they put some some needles on the side and sew it. 15-30 dollars. Pants are more expensive usually. Sometimes cheaper if you are losing weight and don't want to keep replacing clothes.

I know what you mean. My clothes are nearly identical day to day, year round. In winter I put undershirts under the dark blue tee shirts, and the navy blue straight leg sweatpant capris become navy blue straight leg sweatpants.

If I'm feeling kind of wild and free, I might wear a turquoise or pink shirt instead of the normal dark blue, and maybe black capris instead of the usual navy. But it's enough to throw my mental state out of whack, so I usually don't go that crazy.

I would hate to not be the right size to wear my daily aspie uniform. Then again, Walmart sells this in all sizes. But I'm low income, so buying new clothes would be a very hard thing to do.

I had to give away my favourite shirts to others or charity when I lost 3 stone, also we made some of the oldest ones into bunting.

I changed my style a bit after I lost the weight, so I didn't really miss them.

Week done!

When I went up a dress size I looked for what I already had in a larger size on eBay. It was of the worst things about putting on weight. I hate clothes shopping.

I'm losing weight again, but kept my old clothes just in case. Hopefully I'll fit them again soon.

A lot of my clothes are too big for me now because they were brought pre celiac diagnosis when I was chubbier. I still where them though. Altered if needed by my Mum.

UPDATE:

I just tried the new shirt on today, and to my surprise, it fit decently. I will still hold onto it for now, since I want to account for shrinkage in the laundry to ensure that it will continue to fit after several washings as I continue to lose weight.

I just ordered an IZOD Advantage Polo in size XL on eBay. I think it is Fairy Tale based on the shade, the style of the "Sport Flex" sticker at the time, and inner product markings (the seller doesn't mention the exact color name or show a photo of the tag).

My weight is like a YoYo because I love cooking and if I m not burning it, it all goes down immediately.

Last year, lost 16kgs, gained it back, now loosing again, so unless you are 100% sure that you will remain XL, don't buy it all.

I do intermittent fasting, and I haven't seen an upward trend a while now. Even when I briefly gain weight after vacations I quickly lose it.
