Mom, Romance Writer, Book Reviewer Says Hi!

Hi!

I was diagnosed at age 19 with SPD and High Functioning Autism. I was then diagnosed a few years ago with ADHD.

I'm a mom of two, one adopted and one born through IVF. I have two cats and a dog. I'm in my mid-thirties, and I have several special interests. I have always excelled in academic situations and have a couple of degrees.

My top 5 are

1. Native Plants
2. Books about Ecology (which I review on instagram)
3. Fantasy Romance
4. Women's Studies
5. Gentle Parenting (probably my most studied topic)

I would love to make friends, real friends. I've struggled with this my whole life. I'm sure that's a common trend. Looking back I can see how oblivious I have been to social cues, or my misunderstanding of social situations has not served me. I'm in therapy now, and nutritional therapy for eating disorders (probably related to my autism).

I'd love to talk to folks and really get to know people and make friends. I'd love to hear about your pets, and/or see photos!

Hello and welcome.

Is SPD sensory processing disorder?

Lovely to have you here. Let us know if you need any help figuring out the forum.

Yes! I know it has changed since 2007 when I was diagnosed, I think it may be called something else now.

That's okay! Do you have a favorite native plant? I have several but lately I am really loving Asters and Turtleheads (all kinds).
I can't really say I have a favorite. I'm in Southern California. The spring wildflower displays here are stunning, esp. poppies.

Gentle parenting sounds great. I and my daughter probably are both on the spectrum. It was best to homeschool here. After coming to this forum, l see why now.

Welcome! Late thirties woman with AuDHD here. I’m a writer as well (mostly fantasy) but I haven’t finished any of my books yet. I have an impressive collection of unfinished novels and short stories though :tearsofjoy:

Welcome to the forum. :)

I like to write too. I mostly write science fiction and fantasy, but sometimes with romantic elements to them.

Welcome!

Native plants sounds like an interesting topic/field, especially with how much homogeneity there is these days in flora, especially with crop foods, but also things like ornamental plants.
