Money Management.

I'm suck at not spending all my money.
I've probably spent £90 in the last week and all I have to show for it is a book, a magazine and paper. Literally. Everything else was either film rentals, food, coke, donations(people ALWAYS come up to me in the street and I feel obligated to donate at least like £5... even though I rarely think it's a good cause), etc.
I seriously suck at not just buying useless stuff.
Basically every month I have like £10 debt in my iTunes account, and sometimes I even by movies I already have :S.
I wouldn't go as far to say it's an addiction but I just love buying stuff.
The only time I don't buy stuff is when I'm depressed and don't see the point in anything. And even then I'll just go out and buy something to try and make me feel happy(I know how materialistic that sounds).
I'm trying to find ways to earn money but so far I have no ideas :|.
IDK what I'm going to do when I have to be more independent. I probably won't get into debt 'cause I do have some self-control. But just end up not having enough money left for necessities and stuff.
Is anyone else similar?
I have a £40 monthly allowance and that's usually spent in <two days.

This is thee perfect site for you: [link] :p

You could try get a job or something? Paper Round (lol I used to have one - only £6/week). Maybe you could buy stuff online and get them cheaper. For movies try out something like LoveFilm, it might be cheaper.

Hmmm... somethings not right here. :D

Claim benefit?

I'm constantly watching my money ever since I went to that college.

I spend my money over so many pointless stuff from techno gadgets, pointless accessories (but I was urging to at the time) and that.

Damn, if only the DLA didn't have to lower my payment rates, I would of still got that same advantage like I used to, oh well, now I'm constantly watching my money and saving money, also don't forget to set yourself a certain limit to spend per month, it does actually really help too, saves you from getting broke.

@Calvert: My Mum stopped keeping track of money I asked for. P:.
Then she counted it up and was like :o.
The £90 doesn't include the £40 allowance I got for this month as well >_<.

Hold up a minute, you managed to get £90 on top of the £40 allowance?   :o  Care to share your tactics?    :D

TBH it's my Mum. She only noticed how much money she'd gave me and got sort of mad today XD.
It's holidays so yeah. Usually I'd just get £20 or something but yeahhh...
And that sucks Mike :(.
I might be getting some money out of some projects but I doubt it.
Me and my friend Dale also noticed that we have quite a lot of subscribers(several hundred) to our podcast so we might be able to get some money out of that, when we get around to using it frequently.
My brother gets like £105 a month. Literally. Every month. O_O.
IDK where my Mum gets the money from though 'cause it's not like she's got an amazing job. She works for a charity :S.

@SB do you mean that your DLA rate got lowered or that your DLA effected other payments?
Yes, it got lowered unfortunately and I spend practically 40 pounds per month for travel and 25 per week for lunch, technically its not been easy, and I've not been able to access my bank account for a while since my nearest shops ATM sucks and never barely works and I'm not sure if I got paid EMA.

@SB you should appeal against it being lowered. My mum who is physically disabled (can't walk unaided) had her DLA completely stopped. She appealed against it multiple times and even went to a panel who eventually decided that they were wrong to stop it. She got all of the money backdated. I'm not saying you should go through all of that but maybe a simple appeal form might do something. Did they give a reason for it being lowered?

@Emor What's your podcast? I think it's unfair your brother gets more money than you, any particular reason?

@Mike I don't know what the average DLA is, all I know is that I get £60/week. My brother gets his monthly. Also, that's one of the reasons i'm not getting a car anytime soon - too costly to run once you factor everything in.

i think i get monthly, around 2 and a bit hundred, not sure really

but anyway, im okay with money really, i dont often spend much at all, just sometimes i spend quite a bit in one big go, damn hong kong an its interestng and fairly cheap stuff, i have spent hundreds over the past year and a bit getting stuff from there, i have a feeling i may be making another purchase soon

@Calvert: It's called Liberal Perceptions.
Yeah I hate the name too.
I started it a while back so meh. Me and Dale were supposed to do an episode every week but now we rarely do on every month. We said we should start doing them every week again but idk.
And my brother gets more money than me because he has a social life. I was actually okay with 'only' £40 until I wanted to get out of the house more.
TBH I'm thinking of removing some of the podcasts, or getting Dale to because there's a couple where I said some sort of stupid things. Esp. when we had another friend called Beth on where I brought up self-genital mutilation when we were talking about self-harm... Yeah, this is why I don't speak that much irl. LOL.

i get some DLA but that goes straight into another account (was going to save for when i learn to drive- at £2000 a year to just insure me on a daewoo matiz it will be a while) how much is average DLA?

average amount if your on Middle Rate Personal Care And Lower Mobilityry is £263.00 every 4 weeks, I cant calculate my DLA every week

I am in debt, from the old place i used to live at before i moved back with mum and moved back out again. But few weeks ago i managed to not have enough money in my bank account so i were stuffed to pay rent on the monday, but at least i were lucky as it were bank holiday monday and money came through on wednesday. But me and key workers sat down budgetting, but now going to have to re budget again because my income support has gone down to £51.00 when my incapacity hasnt even increased.

And my brother gets more money than me because he has a social life.
:|

Anyways, isnt 40 pound quiet a lot? :shifty:
Converted to pounds, i dont even get 20.

But then i dont really need the money. I never buy stuff (except for a bottle of ice tea here & there  ).
I am happy as long as i have my laptop, my compiler and some ohter tools. ^_^

cheers,
f.

I could try appealing to that, I think it could be that they know I'm capable of alot of things.
As before I wouldn't be going places on my own and that but I'm unsure about that, already tried once and it failed, I might try again.

Imo, I just think it's like some sort of laughing joke, they should really just keep it the same since I'm in college and I'm practically spending £35 per week, there is possibly NO way on earth I can afford anything and I love to save and watch my money grow and grow and then spend.

You seem like my mum, she is terrible with money. I am amazing with money. I am guesing your allowance is from your family? I so wish i got that as I havent ever got an allowance. I always buy new things when they come out and stuff yet always have money to live on and stuff.

My mum always has to borrow money from me and i never get to borrow money lol not that i ever need to.

i can completely relate to this
every day at college i always buy food or drink in every break
and then i always get about £20-30 a time out of the cash machine
thats bad :(
