Musicals and Musical Movies

First, Imma rattle off my fan-cast for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tell me what you think:
  • Jesse Eisenberg as Brad Majors
  • Anna Kendrick as Janet Weiss
  • Tommy Lee Jones as Dr. Scott
  • Jim Carrey as Riff-Raff
  • Helena Bonham Carter or Eva Green as Magenta
  • Margot Robbie as Columbia
  • Uma Thurman as Dr. Frank-N-Furter
  • Hunter Parrish as Rocky Horror
  • Daniel Sharman, Evan Peters, or Jared Leto as Eddie
  • Danny DeVito as The Criminologist
Yes, half of these choices came from the DC movies of both the 90's and modern times. You can sorta thank Matt Groening for that.

Second, my choice for director when Wicked becomes a musical: Joel Schumacher. As well as my fan-cast for certain characters:
  • Emma Thompson, Imelda Stanton, Maggie Smith, or Viola Davis as Madame Morrible
  • Glen Powell or Taylor Lautner as Fiyero
  • Emma Roberts as Young!Galinda
  • Arleen Sorkin as Present!Glinda

Sorry, but the recent remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show sucked compared to the original IMO.

As for a musical I'd remake, I'd do My Fair Lady, with the following cast.

Eliza Doolittle: Martine McCutcheon
Henry Higgins: Richard E Grant
The Colonel: Patrick Stewart
Freddy Einsford-Hill: Martin Kemp
Alfred P Doolittle: Ross Kemp (no relation to the above)

I cannot stress how much I agree with you. I first watched the original Rocky Horror Picture Show sometime last year (after years of @xudo telling me I should give it a go) and absolutely loved it. When the remake came out, we made it as far as the utter butchering of the Time Warp and were all like, "NOPE!"

On another note, I'm counting The Muppets' Christmas Carol as a musical and proclaiming it as the best musical ever.

No more RHPS remakes! The original movie is amazing, a remake was completely unnecessary and frankly, to me, an insult to the original.

@VenomousAlbino ah, Muppets! Good one. I definitely feel like those movies qualify as musicals, although I prefer Treasure Island to Christmas Carol. Probably because of Tim Curry. I adore Tim Curry.

Other than Christmas Carol and the recent(ish) one with Jason Segel, I don't recall ever watching another Muppets film. I'm also taking this opportunity to name Team America: World Police as the second best musical ever.

Team America World Police was one of those "so bad it's good" kind of movies for me, it was just Thunderbirds with adult themes, gratuitous "Puppet on Puppet sex" and violence and bad words.

As for the Muppets. the 2 recent Muppet reboot movies were good, the Muppets and the Muppets Most Wanted, the first one starring Jason Seigel I think was excellent.

Don't forget the way-too long rock bottom scene with a tidal wave of vomit :D I enjoyed that movie so much when it came out, just on the right side of being horrible.

Also, it's impossible not to love the film that gave us "America, **** YEAH!"

I remember watching TA in the cinema and being in stitches when that song started blaring
