My Calgary Stampede photos (update)

After much gnashing of teeth, beating up myself, etc... There have been previous threads on this recent topic

Between heat warning all week, plus work, plus a car show I also attended... I only got out for about seven hours of Stampede photography, far less than my usual expectations :rolleyes: I've photographed it since 2005 (not counting Covid years), but didn't even make it to the Stampede grounds this year, just two days and a few hours downtown...

Here are my results that I've edited, and I only took about 400 photos, that's hardly any for me - a link to my Google Drive folder, anyone with this link should be able to view the photos - Calgary Stampede 2022 - Google Drive

@Orange Glasses @Sunny1 @Luca @Slim Jim @Judge @VictorR

And the last day of Stampede I came up rather dry during a photowalk, but had an interesting chat as I met Francis in a local urban park

Great photos!!!
And I feel bad when you beat yourself up about this stuff :/ You’re very talented, you’re doing fine!!

Hey, we all have to get back in the flow of what we had several years back. I still wonder is something else going to happen that means people will dissappear and shopping for toilet paper turns into the quest of the holy grail.

I feel your pain missing the Stampede. I first heard about it when I was living in San Antonio! It's a thing.
And I know what you mean about 400 being a little. I spent 11 days in Kenya at orphanages (where one of the little boys took pictures on my camera as well), and a safari. When I returned, I started looking at the photos in my camera and decided to get it duplicated so nothing would happen to my photos. I got up, brought my card to my camera shop and I met the owner's wife for the first time as I turned in my Extreme Pro 32GB card to be duplicated. She said they'd be ready 2 days later. When I called to see if they were ready, she said that they needed until Monday at noon. When I got there she told me, "Well, I'm sorry we needed a bit more time. After I formatted the disk there was nothing on there. I've been trying all weekend to fix it for you." I'm extremely proud to say that I did not go over the counter at her. Nor did I tell her that her wee little head is what needed fixing.

Recently my camera itself "munched" a memory card, fortunately there wasn't anything all that important on it...

That's one thing concerns me about manually removing my SD card from my digital SLR. That while it's simple to remove, I'm always wondering what kind of wear and tear may be encountered from doing it on a regular basis. With Windows 10 my Canon software allows me to transfer files directly from my camera through a USB port. So I never have had to physically remove my camera's SD card.

However Canon has no interest in providing such software on a Linux platform, so I must physically remove my SD card from my camera and insert it into the card reader I have installed into my computer. So in the future I'm likely to have to go about image file transfers the old fashioned way. Just hope that never happens to me. But I'm glad you didn't lose anything important.

It happened while the card was in my camera actually, the card suddenly said "memory full", didn't think twice about it and put a new card in... When I got home I discovered that card was empty, at least files that I could read... Tried three different data recovery programs, nothing worked... So just threw the card in the garbage, there wasn't anything "that important" on the card either
