My sister is getting sick and each day it's getting worse...

Yesterday, my 7 year old sister's stomach started hurting spontaneously while we were outside and I was watching her.

After she used the bathroom she said she started to feel better. Then just this morning, she woke up practically spraying snot like a fountain and coughing like person with two cigarettes in their mouth. She's not hindered or bedridden; she's able to get around just fine, it's just her nose oozing mucus and coughing so much.

Now it's 9:30 PM and she's in the bath after saying she's really congested. My stepfather seems to suspect she's getting progressively worse. At first I figured it's just allergy season and she just happened to catch it, but then I thought, springtime allergies don't get this bad.

Please tell me my sister isn't dying. I'm not ready to lose her yet. I lost my grandmother in early March of 2011, and my family took a big hit from it. If God is real, he won't let my sister die this young...!

Don't worry so soon. The tummy ache may not be related to the mucus. And there are lots of very benign reasons for a 7 year old to get really congested and snot ridden. I do understand your fears. My family has been dying off quite a bit in the last few years and my sister has Hodgkin's Lymphoma that may not be curable. She's in a rather rare group. But don't worry. Kids get snot filled. Sinus infection, allergies, colds. And allergies can get that bad. Mine have. When I was a kid my nose would get so snotty I couldn't sleep except propped up in the recliner. Hay fever can really get the snot going.

Can't you take her to a pediatrician or the little clinic or something? It might be something simple they could give her an antibiotic for.

Just like winter, spring is also a season where colds and flu can be quite common. Your family should make an appointment with a doctor and have her checked out but it's likely nothing serious.

Sounds like a cold to me. My niece is nearly 8, and she's always picking up bugs from all the other kids in school.

Schools make NT kids really sick often...especially with mucus stuff. Our sweet childhood brains are not capable of always letting us know how to avoid getting ill.thousands of kids crammed together with germy adults in a place that demands everyone be completely in their heads begets sickness. Period.

But, I think she'll be okay. I survived it, most do. The doctors and meds they will take her to see and will be prescribed will fix her symptoms. She will get sick a lot probably, but she has a strong tolerance.
In that way, our tolerance, NTs can be stronger than autistics. Unless I have you and her mixed up?

Good news guys, she's starting to feel a little better. This morning she had another mucus fit but it was only halfway bad. And she's not coughing as much either. Whoever was praying for me (if said person believes in such a thing), thank you so much! (Apologies if religion is too sensitive a topic here.)
