When I got diagnosed, it was not a quick action. It was two visits, with two different professionals and a lot of tests and finally, a sort of questionare was placed before me. A scenario of each item and give a count from 1 to 10 of how I felt in each one. He scored it on a piece of paper and I came out at 38, which is beyond moderate but just hovering on severe. So, grade 2 to 3 and then, signed and dated it and handed it to me. I did not question further, because I did think he would send an official document in the post and his last words were: good luck for the future.
I did not get an official document and it is not on my medical records. I only have that - now, very scruffy piece of paper, which I have had to photocopy.
Still felt it was proof though, on seeing a new psychiatrist and showing him this paper and his reaction, made me panic! His reaction was quite the opposite to what I supposed.
A friend ( could be on the spectrum too) very kindly phoned the establishment ( because she speaks almost fluient in French) and was told that the expert in autism who evulated me, would send me via email and detailed description on how I was diagnosed. However, so far, not received in and spent a horrible, anxious night, that perhaps after all this time, I am not going to be recognised after all, for being on the spectrum!!!
Surely it is logical that if it is an expert, that also the information would be expert?
