Need some help with a story I plan to write in the future...

My story is about a young man with Aspergers, who lives in the U.K and is unemployed - living with his mother and younger brother (both of whom are N.T's) while earning JSA (Job Seekers Allowance).
Due to feeling inadequate over not been able to find a paid job or find love (something his brother has succeeded at), he is also constantly battling depression.

Not too sure on this next bit as there are a lot of potentials to choose from, but our protagonist begins to develop the power to alter reality - beginning with simple 'rule breaking' powers such as running up walls, teleporting and flight to becoming a Master at the ability where he can not only break all laws of physics but also logic and reason.

My main focus is on him using his powers both for the benefit of himself and others but also playing around with them a bit. At the same time, I want to focus on the notion that despite his newfound abilities, he stays true to himself and doesn't go insane or turn into a tyrant demanding all to bow to him.
I've got a few ideas for my story, but there are certain aspects I want to hear your opinions on for inspiration. These aspects are as follows:

1. What do you think should be the cause of his reality warping power?

2. If you had this power yourself, what would you want to do with it? (your choices can be as many or as few as you want, as well as been simple or 'wacky' - No N.T bashing, though)

3. What do you think would make a good conclusion to work up to?

It sounds to me like the power ought to come from the main character's wish to fight his feelings of inadequacy.

If I had such powers, I would try to use them for the good of all people.

As for the conclusion, I honestly don't know at this point, and I don't think asking us will help. Write your story and worry about fine-tuning later.

I've always had the feeling that I am special and have a special ability. As an AS I ofcourse am special to a certain point. (thinking this makes me feel good. I know it sounds weird, but I'm not crazy.) and I still don't know what that ability is.

so for the character I think it is something he always had, from the birth. He just hasn't discovered.

If I had these abilities I ofcourse would help people. Because I love helping people.

By saving a random stranger from death he finds out the love of his live is working at the ambulance called to the scene.

I hope this helped, I would love to see something of it!

This is an overused, boring idea, honestly. I think Starseed can do better.
you're right, after reading it the second time, I realize how stupid and overused that idea is. Thanks for pointing it out though ;)
I'll try to come up with something better in these (for me) very early hours.

It is a bit, yes. Thank you for helping though - it's got your imagination going. :)

Thank you for the answers you've given. :)
Would you use those powers for fun/entertainment at all?

Nothing. Have them just appear, then you can explore the idea of whether he has the powers or if everything is just a fantasy.

That's a good idea actually. :)
My initial thought was he's paid by the government to be part of an experiment for a performance enhancing drug, with him accepting due to only being on Jobseekers Allowance. He has the drug and over the weeks does see it working, but with the reality warping powers being an unexpected side effect. However, I put that idea on the back-burner for the time being.

Enroll yourself on a creative writing course. You can either do it online or find a night class to teach you 'technique'...however they can't teach 'talent', that is innate. Writing is trial and error, your first draft will be horrible, let it be horrible...it's practice. Practice enables you to 'find' your individual style. To be a good writer you have to be an avid reader. Reading a wide range of different genre will help you to understand prose. It will also rapidly widen your vocabulary. Go outside and 'people watch', it doesn't have to be obvious or creepy. Sit in a cafe with a hot drink, pad and pencil...write about your surroundings, attribute characteristics to certain individuals in the vicinity. Try to envisage their likes and dislikes based on their appearence...etc. Use your own experiences to fill in the gaps if need be.
Remember you don't have to write a story from the beginning to end. You can write it in any order you wish. The writing should flow freely. You can 'order' it during the 2nd/ 3rd draft as well as edit. By all means ask others for 'advice' regarding the books content, however your story is exactly that...'yours'. It should come from the depths of your most inner being, not somebody elses.
Watch as much cinema as possible, follow the story line and listen to the dialogue. Find inspiration there and everywhere, but be warned... never plagiarize.
Above all don't become disheartened, take frequent breaks and never give up.
Good luck. :)

Thank you for all the advice, Stacey. :)

Hmm?...That is a very interesting question. I think I'd like to be able to go back in time, and alter all my socializing blunders! Lol :)

Well at the very least, the past serves as a reminder of what we did wrong and helps us improve.

I'm not sure if I'd find the power fun, but I'd probably be able to socialize without it being painful. Lol.
