New, and I still have some shell on me.

Hello, everyone, my name is Aidan. I have no issue with sharing that online. I look forward to meeting you all, hopefully you can help me "settle in." I've been officially diagnosed with Asperger's extremely recently (and rather confused, since apparently, the diagnosis no longer exists) and only even more recently have I come to terms with it.

I had thought for some time that I was just a certain kind of person, but my family had aggressively pursued a diagnosis/diagnoses to help them understand their son. I was very strange. For 24 years, nobody could figure it out, it reminds me how new a field mental health really is.

I am unemployed, since I took a slip on the ice & broke my elbow. That meant a resignation from Target, it felt horrible to leave them after such a short time, but c'est la vie, I suppose. I do have my own place, and two pet gerbils, and I'm rather proud of that. It's a relief, no longer being controlled by my parents, but as I've said to my friends, I may finally be displaying symptoms of adulthood, but never have I needed an adult more in my life. Thankfully, there's been a large push to get me a license & vehicle, so I may be out & about before the summer arrives. I hope to attend college and find a part-time office job with that.

My interests include pretty much everything, but it would be unfair if I left it at that. I enjoy science fiction. Video games, movies, TV shows, cartoons, anime, books... And speaking of books, I have a way with them. I'm a very quick reader, having finished novels in hours as far back as the summer between first and second grade. I simply enjoy text, but often have trouble starting on books, since so few interest me.

If that's more than any of you ever wanted to know about me, do tell me. I look forward to our discussions.

Welcome Aidan :)

I'm sure you'll find our members to be rather friendly, and helpful, so I hope that you do feel right at home here. I'm sure many of us can relate to your situation. Hiya Aidan

Yes, I too found out recently that Aspergers does not exist as a singular word anymore. I have been getting emails from a group who seem to know all about aspergers and have found it rather interesting, especially as they are not boxing one! It was through them, that I found out that aspergers is no longer apparently recognised, which as you say, is strange and bewildering, since many are being diagnosed recently, with aspergers, which just confirms to me, that professionals, are just those who have names attached and a stupid certificate to say who they are, and yet, they fail on so many levels, but sadly NT put so much stock in them still, that we have extra struggles.

Oh and me too with reading! I have had to regulate my reading, for I hate to be constantly searching for new things to read, and very few really inspire me. However, I have found 66 books to be the best read of them all, for no matter how many times, I read, I will always get new things out of them and collectively they come under the word: Bible lol Yep I am a christian.

I am now 45 and as a friend recently said to me: you will never truly grow up, will you Suzanne and she laughed! I am a teen with a twist lol since I am married and thus, must accept certain responsibilities alas lol

Finding out I have aspergers, has empowered me! I have the answer to why I am so different from other females!

Nice to meet you, I'm Tirzah. I also enjoy anime. Attack on Titan came out to be a pleasant surprise. It's one of my favorites at the moment. I even draw my style mixed with anime.

Video games are always fun. Portal, GTA, legend of zelda, the walking dead, and dead space to name a few.

Sci fi is awesome as well.
I actually posse a newtonian refractactor telescope. Its evokes a wonderus sensation just thinking about it. I cant resist opening up the galaxy and experiencing it's brilliance almost daily...... I'm just babbling on though. I hope you enjoy your stay! :)
