New and recently diagnosed w/ AS

Hi everyone, i wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kurt and I am 31 from St. Louis. I recently sought help and was diagnosed with AS after my actions and behaviors took its toll on my relationship with my girlfriend. We often fought about my childish tantrums and she hated the fact that all of her family and friends think I'm rude and condescending.

Its been this way my entire life and honestly I'm not at all surprised by the diagnoses.

I look forward to learning more about AS and how to better cope with the world around me.

Hi, Kurt! Welcome to the club!

You aren't the only one, there's tons of us out there. I wasn't very surprised with my diagnosis either, although I didn't really know what Autism even was. You're going to love AspiesCentral, we're all very nice and we all share our insights with each other, it's a great place to just get away and chat with people who are also trying to cope. :)

Kurt,

When I read your comment, I thought I was reading one of my comments. I mean, my family, and a good portion of my wife's friends, think I'm rude and condescending (not to mention sarcastic). And just like you, I've been this way my whole life, and wasn't surprised by my diagnosis. Welcome to the group! :)

Welcome to AC. Its hard to be diagnosed later in life but now that they have the tools to do so its a wonderful freedom to know what you already know most of your life. So welcome!!!!

Hi Kurt! Welcome! Getting a diagnosis may help you to understand yourself a little better, I hope it brings you nothing but good things! :)

Hi Kurt,

Welcome to Aspies Central first and foremost. Secondly, hello from St Louis as well. I was just diagnosed in May 2013. I am glad you sought help and found us here.
We're a friendly bunch and hope you stick around.

St Louis must be hard for an Aspie. From what I remember, everyone there asks all sorts of personal questions, and the women smile all the time.

Hi Kurt! Welcome to Aspies Central.

You have definitely come to a great place to learn more about AS. We are an extremely friendly group of individuals (I often like to call this community a close-knit family), so feel free to chat with us and contribute any questions, concerns, or insights you might have whenever you want. I hope you enjoy all we have to offer here and that we can help and assist you in any way.

Welcome Kurt! I hope you find your diagnosis liberating and that it helps you in your relationships. There's a great bunch of helpful people here, so jump right in. :D

Hi! I also got diagnosed at 31! It all started when I accidentaly got to know two females with AS and it was like looking in to the mirror. I wish I would've known sooner, but I'm glad there are others who found out after childhood aswell!! And my poor so called relationships have fallen due to the same reasons, even though I am a female >.<
