New ASAN chapter in Nashville, TN

If you live in or around Nashville, there is a new chapter of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, whose inaugural meeting I happened to attend today, and I highly encourage anyone interested to contribute. You can get info via their Facebook page or PM me directly... I'm hoping to get as many people involved as possible.

Too bad ASAN doesn't have any UK chapters (as far as I'm aware).
Unfortunately, no, they don't, but I'm sure if somebody voiced an interest they would be more than happy to do so. Given that nonprofit laws are different in every country, and that ASAN is a relatively new organization, I'm sure they're still "feeling things out." But I'm optimistic...one thing all of us at the meeting shared was a strong distaste of Autism Speaks, so I think it's only a matter of time, and I have hope that the organization will gain momentum worldwide. Maybe you could email them directly?

True. An alternative is maybe they form a partnership with the National Autistic Society, as this could mean that they could focus on the adult side of the autistic spectrum - one of the NAS weaknesses as they focus more on the kids.
