Hi,my name is mark and i am forty years old and just recently found out what aspergers is.I have a lot of symtoms but have not been told by a doctor that i have it.Well i dont know what to say,i'm not very good at expressing myself so thats me.:unsure:

Hi, welcome to AC. Alot of people with asperger's syndrome end up diagnosing themselves before they are able to go to a doctor. It is sometimes difficult to find a doctor capable of diagnosing it. And sometimes that means traveling or paying out of pocket. In the meantime you can just try and find out as much as you can, talk to other aspies and sort of try it on and see how it feels, if it feels right, I would say it probably is. Some after self diagnosing they find they don't need the official diagnosis, and as long as you don't need to medicate, and are able to find the whatever support you need in those around you, you may not feel it is important. It just depends on if you need access to resources, like disability, education, and help finding a job, an official diagnosis can help with that.
