Dear all,

here I am. I'm from Germany, age 30something, diagnosed with ADHD and AS a few years ago. Stumbled across this forum, spotted a lot of interesting threads and decided to stay. I also hope to increase my vocabulary
Looking forward to participate in threads here and there, so... talk soon :)

Welcome to the most fantastic shelter on the internet.

Your command of English is superior, but we can always improve and that also means native speakers and I say that my own vocabularly has also increased. I have always had an extensive one, but whoa now, no stopping me hehehe.

Welcome - nice picture.

What's the thinking behind it?

Good question! I guess I chose it because the person is wearing a mask and sitting in front of the TV, pretending as if everything was just fine. Although it's a quite dark scene, it kind of felt like the way I pretend everything's just fine, although there's a lot that isn't - but hey, we have a life to perform in... unfortunately (for performing, not life itself). I hope that made sense.

Thanks for that, but my English really is far from superior I'm afraid. As I said, hope there's chance to improve, even if I won't reach to the extent of my native tongue.

Also thanks for everyone's welcomes, I like this forum way more than the German forums already now.

It very much made sense.

For those addicted to routine. If it's the end of the world :

Put on your gas mask to watch tv.

Hi Life of As Pi, welcome. Your English is way better than my German. I can't speak German at all alas. Yes lots of interesting threads here and people are kind and helpful, and tons of information available here too. I'm loving it. I hope you enjoy it here. :)

Hi & Welcome,
Where in Germany? (Don't have to be too specific). I was stationed there for a large part of the 80's. Near Landstuhl and Pirmasens. Loved it and we have gone back on vacation whenever we could afford it. Love the history, especially medieval. Must have visited 100 castles. Can never get enough. They are all different.

Welcome. May your time here be fruitful. We are glad to have your voice.

@Tom I'm situated in the South, close to Switzerland. I've been around the area of Ramstein Airbase, though, mostly to see all the great Muscle Cars the guys over there were driving

Again, thanks to everyone for their warm welcome. I appreciate it.

You are lucky! Thats a beautiful area. The Alps are what Tolkein based his 'Misty Mountains' on. I have been down there a few times to ski, volksmarch and tour. The most beautiful place on earth I have seen. 'Muscle Cars' surprises me. :O But I did see many types of car & racing enthusiasts there.

Welcome As-pi!
I also just stumbled on this site -- less than a week ago -- what got me here was that it's not age-specific (I'm in an older age group) and I really feel safe to express myself. Yay!
I lived in Deutschland in the 90's -- loved it! :D
As you are an Aspie, you'll probably understand when I say that I was so happy to figure out the Deutsche Bahn numbering system :). Traveled all over the country on weekends, and the first German sentence I understood was "Meine Damen und Herren, auf gleis ein (oder drei oder fünf usw),
bitte steigen Sie in den Zug" [Ladies and Gentlemen on track one (or two or five, etc), please go into the train]:D Hope my English translation is right on that o_O

Again, welcome!

Regards
JB
