I'm new here and am unsure what to say.

My name is Adrienne and I've been odd all my life. I do not relate to people normally and some of my emotions are abnormal. Lots of acquaintances and usually 1 or 2 friends, but not the type to discuss personal issues with.

A few years ago, I suspected that I have Aspergers and a little over 2 yrs ago, I was diagnosed.

My professional background is in the life sciences, but I was laid off, aka forcibly retired, five years ago.

I volunteer as an EMT; love to read science fiction, mysteries and technothrillers; do a lot of needlepoint, have Maine coon cats and am active with a cat rescue group.

The cats are my family. I'm somewhere between a black sheep and an outcast with siblings and relatives.
 
Hi and welcome Adrienne, you will not be alone here. I was similar to you friendship wise until I came here.

Welcome Adrienne, it is always a comfort somehow to find people that you have things in common with. I too have been the odd one out, volunteer as an EMT and if I had a cat, I always thought I would choose a Maine Coon. I think you have come to a good place and I hope you are at home here.
