Hi. I am a 64 year old man. I have not been diagnosed but have suspected I'm on the spectrum. The online quizzes say I am. I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to see someone about getting diagnosed, but I've read that it can be difficult with adults, and I would not know who to see about it. I'm hoping to learn more. Thank you for adding me to your forum.

Welcome to AutismForums! I was 62 when I was diagnosed. That sure answered a lot of questions that I had about myself. However, that was ten years ago and the criteria has changed. It is harder to get a diagnosis now. But I think it is worth it to know for sure.

Welcome Forest!
I was diagnosed in my late fifties.
It did take some searching to fing a psychologist willing to do the testing with insurance.
There were plenty that would do it, but, for a large price. No insurance accepted.
Finally found one that specialised in ASD on-line at a website called Health Grades that helps you
find any specialty doctor in your area with info about them and what insurance they take.
I e-mailed her at the website and was accepted right away.

It's good to know even after we are older. Explains so much of why you were the way you were through life.

Hi Forest welcome. I concluded I have high autistic traits after a lot of reading, online tests and having experience of working with families with children with Aspergers. I expect I may be diagnosable but because I cope adequately and there isn't anything else I could access through diagnosis I am not pursuing that. For me it answered some puzzling questions because I have tried hard throughout my life to fit in socially without success and it's interesting to think that my determined perseverence with that may be part of the upside of my traits. I think a lot of the therapy and trainings I ve done have been useful though some areas can't be changed, it's a brain difference. Hope you enjoy it here and find plenty of useful information.
