Hello, everyone! I am a 48 year old woman in Texas, formally diagnosed earlier this year. Last month I was fired from another job (about my 30th), and I'm scared. I'm doing everything I can, but I'm worried I may lose my home. Thank you for the forum.

Do you have a support structure? Can your doctor refer you to vocational rehabilitation? I've been trying to get back in the workforce for years. I've been scared many times, and anxious most all the time. Stay on the forum. There are many caring people that want to help.

Hi, Cactus. I'm building support, but wait lists are pretty long. I applied for VR this week and plan to go to HHS in the morning. I've applied for lots of jobs. I didn't expect the employer to fight the payments, which means I have to appeal. SO much is going on. I'm sure you know how that is. My husband can't work due to epilepsy (another Social Security appeal). We don't have supportive families (racism, abuse, etc.) I'm just trying to hold on. Thank you so very much for your response and letting me know I'm not alone.

Hi Alli C and welcome. Do the appeal with your employer - they always deny it the first go round. Same with Social security. So don't give up.

Hello and welcome. Im new here too. Im sorry to hear of your troubles. I have also had many jobs so I relate with that. I hope things turn around for you

Hi Alli, welcome! I hope everything works out for you. I am fortunate enough to have a working spouse and also, the ability to teach conversational English. Maybe you could try something like that online? You won't make a fortune, but it pays the bills.

Hi there! I hope you find this forum to be useful in maintaining some balance of sanity. I can completely understand how it must be to be worrying about financial situations. It must be hard.

Hi Alli
You are definitely not alone. Being in the UK I can't help you working within the US employment/Social Security systems, but I can assure you that even from here I feel for you and understand how uncertain you must be about your future. I hope we'll be able to help you find the strength to get through this time and come out of it with your shoulders straight and your head held high.
