Not Aspergers anymore?

LostInSilentHill

Terrible Gaurdian Angel
So when I was diagnosed a few months ago the specialist said that they did not use terms like Aspergers anymore. He said it was just Autism Spectrum Disorder and that doctors were moving away from those classifications. He was reluctant to even call me High Functioning since it was a term that wasn't used anymore (?)

I know I fit into the Aspergers catigory but I don't know if I should since he didn't put me in it (or any). Sorry not sure how to word it.

Has anyone else heard anything about this? What do you think?

Pathetic and they call themselves professionals!

You have aspergers. There is a clear definition between being aspergers and autistic! Just because it is not in the books, does not make it non existant!

I spoke to this lady, because I was inquiring where I could get professionally diagnosed and she said that there are not many places in France ( where I live now), but in Paris and I live a good 6hrs away. She said that it is ironic because we are better explaining aspergers, than the so called professionals.
